A truly exceptional and important vintage 1970s Moi et Toi ring made by Carlo Illario & Fratelli and most likely commissioned by Bvlgari. Illario was one of Bvlgari's top designer workshops and Illario pieces were commonly sold by the Bulgari Bvlgari brand. The ring comprises an exceptional 2.10 carat (estimated by formula) square emerald cut natural untreated Colombian emerald of finest intense green hue and color. The emerald is of the finest Colombian quality and its intense green hue and other gemological characteristics are typical for the Muzo mine origin. The emerald measures 7.8x7.65x5.5mm and appears not to be clarity enhanced or treated. In the trade this is known as minor to no cedar oil clarity enhanced or simply - oil drop, and those are the Colombian emeralds that fetch highest prices. Alongside to the emerald is an old European round brilliant cut diamond with an estimated weight of 1.52 carats (7.5x7.35x4.25mm) which has a perfect E-F color and estimated SI1 (possible VS2) clarity (depending on grading lab standards). On both sides of the ring's shoulders there are alternating sections of baguette cut and round cut diamonds and emeralds of superior quality adding to an extra 1.50 carats of diamonds (24 pieces of round brilliant cut and 6 baguette cut of graduated sizes) and 0.50 carats of emeralds (5 pieces of square emerald cut emeralds of graduated sizes). Total diamond weight is estimated to be in the 3.02 carats range, while the total emeralds weight is in the 2.60 carats range. The ring is hallmarked 750 for 18K yellow gold, as well as with ? 26 AL (26 AL) maker's mark for Illario. Ring size is 56-57 (US size 7.75-8 / UK size P), but can be resized. The ring appears to have had an inner ring to make size smaller which has been removed. Gross weight of this magnificent ring is 10.4 grams. Carlo Illario and his jewelry firm are highly prized at major auction sales and his designs have always been considered a true part of Bvlgari's history.
