Item description:

See scan - absolutely perfect condition. This is a nice and rare US American / USA WWII medal group to Technician 5th Grade / earlier Private 1st Class James E. Graubaugh 36 762 997. The group consists of a named and machine engraved set of the Bronze Star order / medal in original case of issue along with ribbon bar and enameled ribbon chart miniature, as well as official framed award certificate an citation for the Bronze Star awarded for Meritorious Achievement In Ground Operations Against the Enemy during the Mediterranean Theater of Operations and the Rome-Arno Campaign in particular. The Bronze Star award certificate / document is a very nice multicolor and high relief printed one and signed by the Adjutant General and Secretary of the Army. The doc is finely framed in golden frame done by the Swanbridge Art Company in the UK. The group also consists a scarce and genuine authentic bronze 5th Army medal for the Rome-Arno campaign having the stylized map of Italy at obverse with airplanes, ships and submarine and reverse shows an US Airborne parachutist assault over the field with tanks and cannons underneath and special text surrounding it sayin THE ITALIANS TO THE HEROIC 5TH ARMY. We think this was given on the occasion of the successfull D-Day assault and liberation of Italy from NAZI German and fascist Army. The medal comes with original issue full length ribbon and is in perfect condition. The medal is almost identical to later less detailed Commemorative medal with different text at reverse and no image, but this one is the real thing... I was told that James E. Graubaugh served as Command Operations / Commando soldier, but additional research is needed. Scarce and rare military / militaria collector set and one of the rare US American medals and orders group.
