See scan - perfect condition. Comes from the same private collection that some of the recent rarities came from... This is an extremely rare Bulgarian Royal pilot badge. It is a WWII Regency / Prince Regent after King Boris III death issue (first time this badge was used was in 1921). This is a very special pilot Academy pilot badge. So far this is the 2nd ever time I get my hands on a REGENCY issue / type of this rarest Bulgarian aviation badge. I've had only 4 or 5 other regular ones throughout all of my collector experience but this is the 2nd regent type I've seen so far. Piece is very different from regular issue, i.e. there is a Russian star placed at top of the badge, as well as the pilot wings at center that normally have the Boris III Royal cypher are replaced with the other WWII wings type that have no Royalty symbols on them. My sources say, that no more than a year or two was the time during which this particular type was awarded - most likely between 1944 and 1945 and I guess that no more than 10 or so badges were given to a limited number of highest ranking pilots. The regular type badge is also listed at the German catalogue of Bulgarian Military badges, but this particular piece is one of a kind item... A truly scarce pilot wings and badge - a true collector item. The badge used for this Regency issue is an early issue with a Miloshev master mark at back. True scarce collector piece that wouldn't last long to stay at any list...
