Item description: * See scan - perfect condition. This is probably absolutely unique piece and one of a kind known so far, i.e. there might be another 1 or 2 pieces somewhere, but this is the first time I see such. This piece was obtained from relatives of a Bulgarian WWII General. Probably this pilot badge / wings badge was presented from the late King Boris III or by some other Royalty, member of the Royal family or highest ranking Bulgarian military. These type of unique decoration awards were presented in exceptional cases just like the highest ranking medals and orders. Extremely rare type of item, since all Bulgarian WWII militaria is considered to be tightly connected to the NAZI German one, as Bulgaria was a WWII Germany ally at that time. Badge is made out of solid 20 karat gold and has a total of 96 nicely cut diamond / diamonds stones and 17 rubies. Badge weighs about 12 grams (about ½ oz in 20 karat) and diamonds total to about 2.8 karat of total weight. Badge has an engraved mark large letter K at back. This could be the monogram mark of the Bulgarian pin and badge master at that time called Kerestidjian who was of an Armenian origin. Reasons of value and appraisal of this piece are so: If I’m to compare it to similar German pilot badges in gold and diamonds, I might have to ask for above 10,000$, since the German such examples are catalogued at prices of about 10,000$-15,000$. However, I regret to say it that German stuff is much more popular than Bulgarian, and no matter this piece is unique (and German pieces are several), it should cost less. The price I think that is supposed to be fair is in the 4,000$ range, but to make it more attractive I listed this piece at 3,500$. Furthermore the badge will be accompanied by an official COA issued by the authorized authentication and appraisal service approved by Ministry of Finance. This piece is one and only, so it is really for the true collector. Scarce and probably one in a lifetime opportunity to own something unique. This is the 2nd similar type of a Bulgarian rare badge with diamonds I have for sale and the previous one sold for 3,800$.
